New VPS Packages Coming Soon!!

It’s been a while since we began the overhaul of our VPS packages, but we’re nearly there!

We now have a XEN based hypervisor solution in place to begin to offer our customers fast, reliable and affordable VPS solutions. We’re currently doing some final tweaks on the packages before release, but watch this space. New packages will be up on the site shortly, and we expect you’ll be eager to see what we have to offer. So we will post on here as soon as they are available.

No Phishing allowed

So I thought it would be cool to write a blog post about a recent event at Cleverhosting.

Earlier today we were made aware that a customers VPS was being used to send out phishing e-mails and host phishing websites. We immediately turned off the offending VPS to avoid any potential damage. All information that we gathered from the VPS was then sent to the relevant authorities for appropriate processing.

Cleverhosting want to assure you that we proactively monitor our networks and servers to ensure legal activity at all times. If any illegal activity is discovered we take immediate action to protect the security of our networks. We feel that it is our responsibility as a hosting services provider to be aware of potential threats and act as responsibly as possible, not only for the good of ourselves but also for those across the internet.

The importance of backing up!

During various trawls through internet forums, and websites. There has been one thing I’ve noticed a lot.

People who have Shared Hosting packages often don’t realise the importance of backing up their data. A lot of Hosting companies don’t perform regular backups of their systems, or they only perform backups of the core software configurations.

At Cleverhosting, we really do encourage our users to perform regular backups of their site. However, we do perform nightly backups of all sites on our servers, as well as employing Raid 1 storage to mirror data between devices, so that in the event of any data loss, we have plenty of backups to get back online as quickly as possible. Even with this in mind, we do still encourage all our customers to perform regular backups of their sites and databases, just in case!

WHMCS V4.3.0 – Coming soon!

Our friends over at WHMCS  currently have Version 4.3.0 in beta and expect to release the new version very soon (WHMCS is the billing system we use to handle all your payments / account information.)

This is exciting news as it enables us to offer you (the customer) a better experience!

Migration to Plesk from cPanel

We have now completed a full migration from cPanel to Plesk!

As a result, we have a lot more functionality available to us which enables us to offer a better service for all our customers, new or existing.

For example, Plesk has a built in clustering option. It also has a built in option to install common web applications such as WordPress, or Joomla!

We also now offer mail redundancy with all our packages, free of charge. This is in the unlikely event of a main server going down, the backup server will take care of mail until the new server comes online again!
